The Story
Eagle Rare 10 Year is one of the great deals in bourbon — a single barrel, 10-year-aged Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 90 proof for around 5–40 at retail. Each bottle is drawn from a single barrel, which means some variation exists, but the quality floor is remarkably consistent. It routinely wins awards, outperforms bottles twice its price in blind tastings, and has become nearly as hard to find as far more expensive expressions. The ten years in a Kentucky rickhouse gives it a depth and complexity that sets it apart from younger, cheaper bourbons.
Nose, Palate & Finish
Nose
Elegant and inviting — toasted oak, dark honey, caramel, and a hint of dried fruit on the nose. There's a light tobacco note and a gentle floral quality that speaks to the age. More refined than you'd expect for the price.
Palate
Medium-full body with excellent balance. The 10 years have integrated the sweetness and spice into a harmonious whole — caramel, toffee, dried cherry, and a well-mannered oak backbone. The rye spice is present but subtle, adding structure without dominating. Consistently one of the best 90-proof expressions at any price.
Finish
Medium-long with lingering honey, oak, and a touch of dark chocolate. A refined, satisfying exit that takes its time.
