Bourbon Review · Weller
W.L. Weller Antique 107
Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon · 107 Proof

The Story
Antique 107 is the sleeper in the Weller lineup. More proof than the Special Reserve, and that extra strength unlocks a lot more flavor. Most people who've had the whole range will tell you this is the best value in it — better than the 12 Year for the price, and a decent stand-in for the pricier wheated bourbons everyone's chasing.
Nose, Palate & Finish
Nose
Warmer and more forward than the Special Reserve — caramel, honey, vanilla, all pushed a little harder by the higher proof. Smells like there's more going on.
Palate
Full, a little more weight than you'd expect. The wheat keeps it soft, but the 107 proof gives it presence — brown sugar, dried fruit, some spice riding along. Tastes like a step up from the entry-level Weller, because it is one.
Finish
Medium-long and warm. The sweetness carries into the finish with a little oak dryness at the end. Better than the Special Reserve, worth sitting with.
