The Bryan
Bryan Haviland
Bryan is an almost-50-year-old Detroit native now living in Tampa, which means he has officially experienced the great American tradeoff: fewer snowstorms, more humidity, and a constant suspicion that the weather is still trying to humble him. He's married, the father of four kids, and works in IT consulting, a profession that mostly involves fixing other people's problems while they call it "just one quick thing."
When he's not doing that, Bryan is trying new drinks, listening to grunge, and spending far too much time at baseball and softball fields. At this point, he has likely logged enough hours on folding chairs and under concession stand awnings to qualify for some kind of minor league pension.
As a Detroit native, he also carries the burden of being a Lions fan, which is basically a lifelong lesson in optimism, disappointment, and emotional endurance. Supporting the Lions requires a special kind of commitment: the ability to say "this year might be different" with a straight face and absolutely no evidence. It's less a sports fandom and more a character-building exercise with touchdowns occasionally sprinkled in.
Bryan brings that same energy to everything else: a healthy dose of sarcasm, a strong opinion about music, and a willingness to keep trying new drinks even when the menu is clearly trying to be clever. He's especially partial to a good bourbon pour, because if he's going to make it through family schedules, Florida weather, and the Lions, he figures he deserves at least one respectable glass of bourbon in the deal.
Why We Built It
To share tasting notes, bar finds, useful gear, and bourbon news in a tone that feels more like a great menu than a blog. No pretension, no points systems that require a PhD to interpret — just honest takes on what's worth pouring and what's worth skipping.
The name says it all. Another round, always.
